**Livonia Lights is taking 2018 off, so we can spend more time with family this season. Also, we are looking for an alternate site for the show.**
We know a lot of you are wondering why we are not doing the display this year. Keeping Christ in Christmas is very important to us. Our display has become a long-standing Christmas tradition for many over the past 12 years, and an impactful way to share the reason for the season - Jesus' birth. It is still our desire to continue doing light shows, and are exploring ideas for another location which can provide better traffic flow and easier viewing.
That being said, we decided to take 2018 off for several reasons.
A) The light show is a labor of love, requiring months of planning, preparation & setup. Our family has done this for 12 consecutive years, and this year we need a break. We had a recent death in the family, and a very difficult 2018 with serious medical issues. This year, we need family time to re-group
B) Last year, we had record turnouts, with resulting traffic jams which required us to be out every night in December. We had no time for Christmas shopping, sending cards with our yearly family Christmas letter, or any of our family traditions. We burned out. Hopefully, a year of rest will energize us again.
We will keep you posted as we work through this process which, hopefully, will lead to an even better display!
