God's Gospel
Jesus laid down His precious, divine life so that the spiritually dead could have spiritual life. The ancient Hebrew prophet, Isaiah, testified that Jesus would come for this purpose, “Surely he hath born our griefs, and carried our sorrows, yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was laid upon him, and with his stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:4-5).
This free exchange may not seem fair to our human minds, but it pleases our loving Creator. The Bible assures us many times that it was God’s plan for His Son to die for mankind: “For He hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin: that we might be made the righteousness of God in him” (2 Corinthians 5:21).
